WC Challenge: #5/25

5/25:

This Umbro away kit was worn between March 2002 to February 2003, and featured in the 2002 Korea Japan World Cup Finals. The team wore it in the group stage match against Argentina, which England won 1-0 with David Beckham scoring a penalty after Michael Owen was brought down in the box. England ended up losing to Brazil 2-1 in the quarter-finals.
This was one of the few reversible shirts Umbro tried out ... to little success!

I’m wearing #8, as worn by Paul Scholes in the tournament, who made 66 appearances for England, scoring 11 goals during his 8-year international career.

Today's schedule:
Group F: Sweden v South Korea
Group G: Belgium v Panama
Group G: Tunisia v England

TODAY IS THE DAY!! England kick off their campaign with a game against Tunisia, and even though we have a history of stumbling at the first hurdle in international tournaments, hopefully this young team can hold their own against #21 in the world rankings. Tunisia have won 1 of their last 4 games (which was against Costa Rica), losing to Spain and drawing with Portugal and Turkey.
